Devmountain Overview and Guide

It’s common for coding bootcamps to prepare students for a career change with online and in-person options. Throughout this Devmountain review, you’ll learn why this bootcamp is worth noticing in a sea of options.

Devmountain offers five courses in various tech fields. The majority of these courses pair curriculums in industry-standard tools with the career services you need to land a job.

Coding Basics

This short introductory course gives students the basics of building a website, which they can build on later. Students learn the basics of coding with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript over four weeks.

Each week in this part-time course focuses on a different coding language, with the final week bringing all the tools together for a basic website build. This is the only course without a career services element, as it’s only designed to introduce concepts that students build on in other programs.

iOS Development

This full-time course gives students the tools they need for software engineering on the iOS platform. Students learn to build apps with tools like GitHub and Xcode while learning Objective-C and Swift programming languages. At the end of this 13-week course, students collaborate with Software QA and UX Design students to build an app for Apple products.

Software QA

This course is available in both part-time and full-time format, with the part-time course lasting for 12 weeks, and the full-time course lasting for six weeks. Students in this course learn everything they need to work as software testers. Students learn to perform test writing, unit testing, test automation, load testing, and API testing, using JavaScript and the Agile framework.

UX Design

This course is only available in a 16-week part-time format. User experience design students learn to create a great experience for a website or app’s users. Over this bootcamp, these students learn how to conduct research and design prototypes, websites, and applications. Students also learn about information architecture to do all of the necessary work.

Web Development

In the most in-depth course, students have the choice of spending 13 weeks in a full-time program or 43 weeks in a part-time program. Devmountain students learn to build sites and apps in the JavaScript framework with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.

Students then learn about building the back end and data structures with tools like Node.js. Students in this course learn everything they need to work as entry-level web developers and software engineers.

Devmountain Tuition

Devmountain is among the more affordable options in the bootcamp space. All of its courses cost less than $10,000, and there are loans and scholarships available to help students cover that price.

Devmountain Financing and Payment Options

  • Scholarships. Devmountain offers scholarships to cover many different life situations. The Bridge the Gap scholarship is designed to bring more underrepresented people into tech. The Dead-End Job scholarship is for people who are looking to change careers, and the Adversity scholarship is for people that have demonstrated achievement and determination in the face of adversity.
  • Upfront. Devmountain allows people to pay the full cost of their tuition upfront, which is the least expensive way to take any of its courses.

Devmountain Admissions: How to Get In

Devmountain has a simple online application process to find the best candidates for its programs. After candidates complete the application and enrollment processes, they will start working towards building a lifelong career.

Devmountain Application

Devmountain has a three-step application process. Prospective students fill out an online application that takes around 30 minutes before having a phone consultation. After this process, they take part in a skill review.

The phone consultation gives applicants a chance to learn more about Devmountain’s programs to find the best fit for them. Applicants speak with an admissions counselor who explains the program they’re interested in before giving them a chance to ask questions.

The skill review is the final test where students demonstrate their skills in the subject they hope to study. Devmountain doesn’t expect applicants to be experts in the subject, so no prior experience is required.

Devmountain Interview

Devmountain is looking to educate beginners on their topic of choice. So to that end, it’s not important to be an expert before you apply, but there are a few ways you can ensure you’ll do well at a Devmountain interview.

According to an admissions counselor at the school, there are a few things that Devmountain looks for in applicants during interviews. The bootcamp wants to see motivated and passionate applicants who have taken the initiative to learn something about their subject before applying. Applicants should also have a team-oriented personality and the ability to commit their time to the program.

Devmountain Admission Rate: What Are My Chances of Getting In?

Devmountain doesn’t publicize its admission rate, but it has rolling deadlines and many open cohorts. So there’s a good chance that if you show motivation, passion, initiative, and the ability to commit then you’ll be accepted.

Devmountain Outcomes: Will I Find a Job?

More than 77 percent of graduates from Devmountain’s web development program have a job within 180 days of leaving the program. iOS development program grads have a 70.3 percent employment rate, and UX design students have a 76.2 percent employment rate. The highest rate of all is 83.3 percent for software QA students over the same period. Devmountain does a lot to prepare students for their job hunts before graduation so you have a high chance of finding employment after leaving the program.

Job Placement Services at Devmountain

The career services team at Devmountain works with students in many ways to ensure they’re well-equipped before, during, and after their job hunt. Students start by meeting with the team to develop a job search plan while building strong resumes, social media brands, and tech portfolios.

As graduation nears, students get career advice and practice interviewing so they know how to handle their upcoming job hunt. Then, students get a chance to attend Devmountain career fairs and networking events while receiving continued job search assistance until they get hired.
