Skill Distillery Schedules: When Can You Study?

Full-Time

Skill Distillery has only two programs lasting 12 and 16 weeks, and both are full-time. The course runs from 8:30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. This means that you should treat the course as a full-time job. It would be impossible to try to take this course while working or attending another school.

Students will also need to complete assignments on the weekend and spend a certain number of hours on coursework in order to graduate.

Part-Time

Skill Distillery does not have a part-time program at the moment. Therefore, this course is not for people who cannot devote all of their time to a coding bootcamp.

Flex

Skill Distillery does not have a flex schedule.

Skill Distillery Tuition

Skill Distillery’s two courses come with different tuitions. The 16-week Java full stack program costs $19,950, while the 12-week course costs $14,950. Students will need to pay a deposit of $1,000 after their application has been approved. This deposit is due two weeks before the start date of the program.

The remainder of the total tuition balance is due before the first day of class. The tuition does not cover the cost of the Oracle exam.

Skill Distillery Financing and Payment Options

Income share agreement. With an income share agreement, students can defer tuition and attend the program of their choice without paying anything. They will not be required to pay their tuition until after they are earning at least $50,000 per year.

When the graduate is gainfully employed, they will need to pay back 12.75 percent of their annual income each month for about three years.

  • Loan. This software engineering bootcamp also allows students to cover their tuition costs by applying for a loan. To do this, Skill Distillery has partnered with Climb Credit to offer low-interest loans.
Students with low credit can also qualify for a loan. The terms of the loan will be made clear before the student chooses one.
  • Scholarship. Aside from loans, Skill Distillery awards need-based scholarships to eligible students. These scholarships cover 50 percent of tuition and are based on the strength of the student’s application, as well as their financial needs.
This gives students with high potential the opportunity to seek a career in tech, even if they don’t have the financial means to pay for their course upfront.
  • GI Bill and VET TEC. Skill Distillery accepts GI Bill benefits. Veterans and their family members can use the bill to reduce the cost of their tuition.

Skill Distillery Admissions: How to Get In

People who do not have any coding experience and want to transition to tech will likely find success at Skill Distillery. However, you will get the most out of this coding bootcamp if you’re located in Denver and can attend in person. The application process is simple, but we suggest studying coding basics before applying.

Skill Distillery Application

At the beginning of your application process, you will speak with a career advocate from the coding bootcamp. This advocate will help you with the whole process, including choosing a start date that fits your schedule.

After filling out an application online, you will then need to take part in a behavioral interview. If you pass this interview, the admissions team will ask you to sit for a technical interview focused on logical reasoning.

Skill Distillery Interview

As mentioned above, Skill Distillery has two interviews in its application process. The first is a behavioral interview, while the second is technical. In the first interview, the admissions team will want to get to know you.

Some interview questions you can expect to face include why you chose the program, and what has motivated you to want to learn to code. The technical interview will likely include coding challenges or tests.

Skill Distillery Admission Rate: What Are My Chances of Getting In?

This software engineering bootcamp has not published its admissions rate. However, we can safely assume that the admission rate is low because of the number of students per cohort. The school’s average class size is about 20 students, which allows for plenty of one-on-one training.

You can increase your chances of getting accepted into the training institute by studying beforehand. To do this, you might want to check out video tutorials online or take one of the many free coding courses that are out there. The important thing is to stand out during the interview.

Skill Distillery Outcomes: Will I Find a Job?

Skill Distillery has recorded outstanding success among its recent graduates. Its data shows that 90 percent of students secure a tech job within three months of graduating.

The average salary per annum for alumni of the coding bootcamp is $70,000. So far, graduates have found jobs at top tech companies including Google, Comcast, Craftsy, Bank of America, Raytheon, Click Bank, and Vertafore.

Job Placement Services at Skill Distillery

Skill Distillery does not offer a job guarantee. However, it provides students with job preparation workshops during their program. Students will learn resume writing, LinkedIn optimization, and how to perform job searches. This workshop also covers how to ace an interview.

Although the school doesn’t guarantee that students will find a job upon graduating, it does have many local hiring partners that will increase students’ chances.

Should You Apply to Skill Distillery?

Skill Distillery has a lot to offer in terms of effective courses and career services. Students will study full-time in small classes with one-on-one support to ensure that no one is left behind. There are also workshops to help students prepare for their job search. Below are some specific reasons you should apply to Skill Distillery.

  • Career advocates. This software engineering bootcamp will provide you with a career advocate even before you enroll in a program. These coaches will guide you through every step of their technical training process.
  • Multiple financing options. Few coding bootcamps offer as many financing options as Skill Distillery. You have the choice to pay upfront, or take an income share agreement. Skill Distillery also offers scholarships for deserving students, and allows veterans to use the GI Bill.
  • Solid curriculum. Skill Distillery uses a reliable curriculum focused on Java. This is because Java is widely used, and programmers who focus on this skill will encounter more job opportunities.
  • Preparation for Oracle certification. This program prepares students for the Oracle Certified Associate exam for Java Programmers. This certificate is a great way to stand out when applying for jobs as a recent bootcamp graduate.

Skill Distillery is a coding bootcamp that can help you actualize your dream of becoming a web developer. If you live in Denver and are in the market for an immersive software development program, you should apply to Skill Distillery.

However, if you want to focus on other aspects of technology, like data science, product management, or video game development, this coding bootcamp may not work for you.
