You can enroll in BrainStation’s data science or web development program at any of the bootcamp’s 11 locations, or online. There are also several individual courses you can take instead of a whole program, such as data analytics or iOS development.

Though the data science program focuses on learning Python for data science, many graduates of BrainStation report having learned Java as well. This is also the case for the web development program.

Each program costs around $15,000 to complete full-time and can be paid for via a monthly payment plan, private loans, or scholarships. Many of BrainStation’s graduates have been hired by big companies such as Shopify, Microsoft, and Capital One.

At Code Fellows, you can enroll in one of two programs: Software Development or Ops and Cyber Security. The software development program focuses on teaching students HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, but allows for freedom to learn a bit more of what you want in the final course, which is when you can learn Java and the differences between Java and JavaScript.

This course is offered both onsite in Seattle or completely online, and can be taken in a daytime schedule, nights and weekends schedule, or a self-paced schedule. You can enroll for each course individually and pay anywhere between $99 and $12,000 per course, or you can enroll in all courses simultaneously for a discount.

Students attending Code Fellows are encouraged to work with their academic advisors and determine what learning path best suits their career goals. Though software engineering is not the best bootcamp for all data science careers, you can work with an advisor to learn how best to combine data science and software engineering skills.

Coding Dojo is another prestigious coding bootcamp with locations all across the United States. The best programs for studying Java are the part-time online data science program and the software engineering program, the latter of which can be full-time or part-time, onsite or online.

The part-time programs cost $4,995 to $7,995 each, while the full-time program is $15,995. These can be paid for via an upfront payment, an ISA, monthly payments, private loans, or scholarships.

While the focus of these courses is to prepare you for a career in data science or software engineering, many graduates report having learned much more about Java than anticipated. You can also work with an advisor to see how more Java-based learning can be applied to your studies.

Based in New York, Flatiron School is one of the most popular coding bootcamps in the United States. To learn Java, you can enroll in the data science or cyber security analytics program, both of which are offered at all eight of the onsite locations, as well as online.

These programs cost $18,000 to complete in-person and $15,500 to complete online. You can finance your tuition via an upfront payment, private loans, or a variety of scholarships. If you need a prep course prior to enrolling, you can sign up for Flatiron School’s free data science bootcamp prep course first.

Alongside popular programming languages such as Python and Java, you will also learn about SQL, statistics, machine learning, big data, and even crisis management in a technical sense.

General Assembly is one of the most popular coding bootcamps in the world, with locations all across North America, Europe, and Australia. This bootcamp offers four full-time programs, 11 part-time programs, and four on-demand programs. During the full-time and part-time data science program and the part-time data analytics program, you will learn to use Java.

Depending on which program you enroll in, you will owe General Assembly anywhere between $950 and $1,590 per program. This tuition can be paid for via an upfront payment, monthly payments, private loans, the GI Bill if applicable, or through an income share agreement or ISA.

Though General Assembly is tough to get into, with a 15 percent acceptance rate, it is well worth it. After completing a program and taking advantage of the bootcamp’s career counseling services, 92 percent of graduates become professional data analysts, data scientists, web developers, or UX/UI designers.

Though Kenzie Academy does not offer many program options, its $20,000 software engineering and $10,900 UX design programs are designed to help students learn soft skills, hard skills, and technical skills. The goal of this bootcamp is not only to prepare you for the workforce but also to put you ahead of the competition.

Both programs are offered totally online, with the software engineering program on a full-time schedule and the UX design program on a part-time schedule. The software engineering program takes roughly nine months of dedicated studying to complete, while the UX design program takes six months to finish.

The curriculum for both programs offered by Kenzie Academy is curated using the most up-to-date technologies and most in-demand job skills. This means you will learn Java, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and many other important programming languages to help you get a job.

The Springboard bootcamp offers an entire career track for those who want to go into data science, and another for data analytics. The program is offered totally online, with no options for onsite learning, and it costs $8,500 upfront or $13,600 if you choose a monthly payment plan, private loans, or a deferred tuition plan to finance your education.

All of the programs and career tracks offered by Springboard are considered full-time programs. It will take you about six months to complete the program, and you will be expected to dedicate 15 to 20 hours a week to your studies. You will study the fundamentals of data science or data analytics and will learn common programming languages such as Python and Java.

One of the best things about Springboard is the job guarantee. For all of the bootcamp’s full-time programs, including both the data science and data analytics career tracks, you are given a job guarantee by the school. This means when you graduate, the bootcamp will help you with job hunting and career coaching until you are employed.

The Software Guild is an online coding bootcamp offering a few different programs, including an intro to web development option, an intensive .NET/C# program, and a Java program. Each program costs $10,000 to enroll in, with an additional $125 sign-up fee. You can finance your tuition here through an upfront payment or by taking out private loans.

Completing the Java program through The Software Guild is a fantastic decision to make if you want to learn how to become a data scientist, a data analyst, or a machine learning engineer since Java is used quite frequently in all of these work environments.

During the 12 weeks of the Java program, you will learn about object-oriented programming and database-driven web applications. Alongside mastering Java, you will become familiar with technologies such as NetBeans, JSON, AJAX, MySQL, and Spring MVC.

At Thinkful, you can enroll in seven different programs. To learn Java, you will do best by enrolling in either the data science program, the data analytics program, or the software engineering program. Each program costs $12,500 to $18,500 for the full-time schedule, or $6,500 to $7,900 for the part-time schedule. You can pay upfront, or via a monthly payment plan, deferred tuition plan, private loans, or an ISA.

The full-time programs at Thinkful take five months to complete, while the part-time programs take about six months, though this can vary depending on the program. You will be in class from 10am to 5pm five days a week in the full-time program, while in the part-time program you will study on your own for 20 to 30 hours a week, with two live lectures per week.

Thinkful is an awesome place to learn important data science, data analytics, and/or software engineering skills, as it teaches not only the fundamentals of each subject but also some of the most common programming languages. These include Python, JavaScript, and Java.

What Is a Java Bootcamp?

So, what is a Java bootcamp anyway? You can think of a bootcamp as a quicker version of college. Rather than spending years studying in school, bootcamps allow you to learn within a matter of months, sometimes even weeks and earn a certificate respected by employers.

Java bootcamps specifically focus on teaching the Java programming language and related skills. The reason these bootcamps can be completed so much faster than typical college degree programs is the lack of general education requirements and filler classes.

How Much Do Java Bootcamp Programs Cost?

The cost of a Java bootcamp program really depends on which bootcamp you enroll in, what the program schedule is, and what format it is taught in. Typically, part-time online programs are the least expensive, while full-time onsite programs cost the most.

You could spend anywhere between $950 and $20,000 on a Java bootcamp. As described above, most bootcamps offer several different payment methods to help cover the tuition cost.

Are Java Bootcamps Worth It?

Though it may seem easier to learn Java on your own or to simply enroll in a data science bachelor’s degree program through a university, Java bootcamps can actually be one of the best ways to learn the programming language. The only downside to enrolling in a bootcamp is that most bootcamps teach Java alongside other subjects, rather than only teaching Java.

However, if you want to learn Java for a career in data science, it is almost always worth it to enroll in a Java bootcamp. This will allow you to learn the Java programming language and data science fundamentals at the same time, all while preparing for your tech career.
