Georgia Tech Boot Camps Overview and Guide

Careers in data science, cyber security, UX/UI design, and digital marketing have begun to rival the popularity of the software engineering and web development career tracks. More companies are looking to hire highly-skilled candidates for these roles, and more members of the workforce are turning to bootcamps to boost their credentials.

If you want to venture into one of the aforementioned careers but are still unsure about where to go, this Georgia Tech Boot Camps review could help you decide.

What You Need to Know About Georgia Tech Boot Camps

Georgia Tech Professional Education (GTPE), an affiliate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, offers five different tech bootcamps, all of them online. Coupled with the live virtual classroom, each program has a part-time option to facilitate flexible learning.

Georgia Tech Boot Camps are committed to quality assurance. Online classes are recorded and reviewed regularly so that the quality of education remains consistent across all programs. And to ensure that nobody slips through the cracks, the school assigns each student a personal helper to guide them through their learning experience.

  • Cost: $10,000 (subject to change)
  • Schedules: Full-Time, Part-Time
  • Courses Offered: Coding, Data Science and Analytics, Cyber and Network Security, UX and UI, and Digital Marketing
  • Upcoming Start Dates: Varies by course; new classes every academic quarter

Georgia Tech Boot Camps Curricula: What Can You Study?

At Georgia Tech Boot Camps, you can study coding, data science, cyber and network security, UX/UI design, or digital marketing. Each program has a dynamic curriculum delivered in a hands-on virtual environment.

Data Science and Analytics

For those interested in learning data analytics and data visualization, the data curriculum is an easy pick. In the Georgia Tech Data Science and Analytics Boot Camp, you’ll take on statistics, Excel, Python programming, databases, and front end web visualization, among other topics.

The Data Science course only offers a part-time plan, meaning students will take the course over 24 weeks. Classes will meet three days a week, including on two weekdays from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, and on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

Coding

In the Georgia Tech Coding Boot Camp, students learn the coding languages and frameworks they need to become full stack developers. All the backbones of modern-day web development are covered, including JavaScript, jQuery, React.js, Git, and MongoDB.

You can become a full stack developer in either 12 weeks with a full-time schedule or in 24 weeks on a part-time lesson plan. The full-time option is unique to the coding program. All other GTPE bootcamps are part-time only. Although all sessions of the Coding Boot Camp are conducted online, students still team up with their peers for real-world projects.

Cyber and Network Security

The Georgia Tech Cyber and Network Security Boot Camp is perfect for IT professionals and managers, or anyone interested in learning the latest tools and technologies used for protecting vulnerable data. Offered in a 24-week, part-time format, the curriculum covers networking, ethical hacking, cyber security architecture and management, and analytics.

UX/UI

The rise of content management systems (CMS) has forever changed how we interact with computers. As a result, there is a growing demand for web developers who have user experience and user interface skills. GTPE’s 24-week UX/UI curriculum answers the call with lessons on responsive design, user-centric design, visual prototyping, and wireframing.

Throughout the course, students have access to tutoring and career services to help them land a better job or get a promotion. They graduate from the bootcamp with a complete professional portfolio built with the latest wireframing tools.

Digital Marketing

Any company that wishes to get big on the Internet must have a robust digital marketing outfit. In-demand tools such as Google Ads, Google Analytics, Facebook Ads Manager, and WordPress are necessary for creating an effective digital marketing strategy. The Georgia Tech Digital Marketing Boot Camp trains students in all this and more.

Unlike the other part-time courses, which go for 24 weeks, Georgia Tech’s digital marketing program lasts only 18 weeks. But this is more than enough time to teach students how to design, revamp, or overhaul a digital advertising campaign.

Georgia Tech Boot Camps Admissions: How to Get In

Getting into most coding bootcamps is tough and Georgia Tech Boot Camps are no different. You can submit an application, however, as long as you are at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or the GED equivalent.

Georgia Tech Boot Camps Application

The application process is simple. You declare your interest in the program, speak to an admissions representative, and go through an initial screening process. Those who seem like good candidates must then complete a rigorous technical interview.

Georgia Tech Boot Camps Interview

If you are lucky enough to pass the initial screening, you’ll be asked a series of interview questions to assess your critical thinking and problem-solving ability.

Other than raw talent, the main criteria on which you’ll be judged are your goals and your potential to excel in your chosen program.

Georgia Tech Boot Camps Admission Rate: What Are My Chances of Getting In?

GTPE has not published any official statistics on their bootcamp admission rates. Your chances of getting in depend on how well you articulate your intentions during the interview. Although applicants are not officially required to have any programming experience, those with a coding background do stand a better chance of getting accepted.

Georgia Tech Boot Camps Outcomes: Will I Find a Job?

Georgia Tech Boot Camps do not, unfortunately, guarantee any of its graduates a job. But graduates looking for work are encouraged to take advantage of the school’s employer partners. The school often recommends candidates to companies in its network.

Georgia Tech Boot Camps has a career services team to provide job assistance to graduates. There are profile coaches to give students feedback on their resumes, portfolios, social media profiles, and LinkedIn accounts. The feedback focuses on what to improve on and what to remove. Learners can also seek advice from the school’s career advisors.

Should You Apply to Georgia Tech Boot Camps?

Georgia Tech Boot Camp is affiliated with the Georgia Institute of Technology, but it has its own industry-driven curricula and its own team of expert instructors. Below are other reasons why you should apply to this bootcamp.
